On Monday I decided to head out to Pinchmill Fisheries. I have fished this water a number of times and as it was only my second session of the season I thought I would go somewhere I know. Better the devil you know eh??? Well actually not. On the way up I was quietly confident I would come back with a wet net having caught at least a few silvers if not something better. Having got there at a little after 9 (I know.... Early bird catches the worm and all that but id had a rough night okay) I picked my pog and began fishing. For those of you that know the fisheries I was sat on the top pond on the wall, casting over the outlet pipe. Tends to be lots of hungry carp there where the natural bait seems to get drawn to. So I don't really want to darg this thread out, I mean how long does it take to tell you I didn't catch a thing, and only had 1 half 'o bite all day. I even moved pegs after about 3 hours and that really isn't like me at all. Partly because im scared someone will come and sit where I have moved from and bag up, and partly because im just too lazy to move. I know this isn't the most exciting thread and I wish I could have come on to tell you about my 100lb bag but unfortunately not. But, Hey. You got to take the rough with the smooth. No one said this game was easy!!! So whats your experience of Pinchmill. What baits work best for you and what pegs are the hotspots. Tight Lines all. I might be ugly but just check out my empty bank account! |

Well decided to try Pinchmill again today and im afraid to say it was no better. I only got there at about 11 and picked what I thought was a nice peg. When I packed up at 4 I hadn;t had so much as a proper bite. It was starting to pick up for everyone else as I was leaving as it has been warm all day. Thats 2 out of 3 days fishing resulting in a blank this season so far . If things don't pick up I might have to resort the the bully boy tactics. I might be ugly but just check out my empty bank account! |

Looked at Pinchmill in the fisheries guide, looks a nice venue decent right up but I never believe owners, they cant be trusted so what information eg pegs, depth, stocking, quality, projected weights, ect. just a tester question to see if the members of this site are forthcoming with info. |

In my opinion Pinhcmill is sadly getting worse and worse. Having said that though It did go really quiet a couple of years ago and then went on a flyer right upto the floods last year. Since then tho it seems to be struggling to pick back up again. The top pond is the oldest and where you want to be fishing if your after the larger carp. Its pretty much 4ft all the way across bar a shelf the ranges from about 2ft to about 4ft out from the bank. It does have a few "Golden Pegs" that seem to do alot better than others. There is one to the right of the big tree on the car park side that is shit hot for tench. You have to be quick tho as the roots of the tree go into the water and the tench know that. Next to the island is where the majority of the carp hang out. Id say on a good day you've got a decent chance of getting upto 8 - 10lber but its not the sort of place that I would chuck 3 rods on alarms in and sit and wait for the biggy. There are some in there but its not often you hear of them showing. The bottom pond I have only started to fish this year and have only done about 4 sessions there so don't know anywhere near enough about it. Best fish out of there is around 5lb mirror. There are some niced size bonus Ghosties and Koi but it's along time since I have heard of these coming out but they have been seen cruising a few times recently. It's a nice place and I won't give up on it just yet but it is a bit worrying as upto the floods I was almost guaranteed to bag up there. I might be ugly but just check out my empty bank account! |

i beg to differ ! i admit tht pinchmill is not an easy venue but if ya take ya time to speak to regular anglers and rob himself you will find the best methods! just like i did! before this i blanked three times and since speaking to rob i have had a handful of 10+ carp and stacks of 6to9 pound carp the size of the ide and roach in these ponds are awesome! the chubb are good too! my biggest barbel is 4lb6oz here but my friend has had a 7lb barbel off the top! theres a few decent sized ghosties and according to this same friend it was a few ounce short of 18lb! i also no of a 20+ carp in the top pond! best method anytime any weather= BREAD (CIGAR METHOD) try this fisherie again and speak to people u wont be dissappointed!! |

alot of prople think pinchmill is a hard water and i have been down thousands of times and herd people say it is shit and im never coming again. to be fair they are the people who dont know how to fish. ive been fishing it for 9 years now and it has got to the point were i find the lake to easy,i use the lake to test out new methods and crazy baits just out of curiosity to see if they work and every bait i have tried 9/10 times it works. early this year i took a rod down and a net with just a float and hook and a slice of bread and had 12 carp and lost 4 in just 2 hours. alot of the regulars know how good the place is and ive witnessed over 100lb of carp been pulled out in 6 hours on numerous occasions my tip is stick to the edges and avoid open water or u will find ur self with very low weights on both lakes. btw rob is a top class guy those who know him well will know. |
